How to participate

ai-gent is built in the open — but participation is intentional, not noisy.

You don’t need to agree with everything here. You don’t need to write code. You don’t need to be loud.

You just need to contribute honestly and responsibly.

Ways to participate

1. Read & understand

Start by reading the principles and existing reference work.

• Read the ai-gent Manifest
• Review existing reference agents and proposals

2. Ask clarifying questions

If something is unclear, ask. Good questions improve architecture and governance.

• Open an issue with a clear question
• Challenge assumptions respectfully
• Ask why, not just how

3. Propose changes or ideas

ai-gent evolves through concrete proposals, not abstract debates.

• architectural changes
• alternative design decisions
• smaller or more resource-efficient models
• clearer documentation or wording
• scoped experiments or reference implementations

A proposal does not need to be perfect. It needs to be explicit.

4. Contribute implementations

You can contribute by building parts — not necessarily whole systems.

• isolated components
• reference implementations
• tests or reproducible setups
• documentation tied to real code

Small, focused contributions are preferred.

5. Improve clarity

Not everything is about code.

• rewriting unclear sections
• pointing out contradictions
• simplifying explanations
• identifying hidden assumptions

Clarity is a contribution.

What participation is not

• This is not a growth-hacking community
• This is not a discussion forum for opinions
• This is not a consensus-driven process
• This is not a place for engagement metrics

ai-gent values:

• traceable decisions
• explicit trade-offs
• long-term trust over short-term excitement

How decisions are made

• Rules and principles are documented before they are enforced
• Changes are discussed publicly and recorded
• Not every suggestion will be accepted
• Rejection will be reasoned, not silent

You don’t have to participate in governance — but you can always inspect it.

Where to start

If you’re unsure where to begin:

• pick an existing issue and ask one clarifying question
• propose a small improvement
• draft a partial solution and explain your reasoning

The best way to participate is to make something clearer than it was before.
